Cafe Review: Little and Friday

A few weeks ago I met up with my friend Kirsten from High Tea with Dragons at the famous cafe, Little and Friday to check out their rave-review food. This was our first time meeting in real life, how exciting! Kirsten and I had heard amazing things from almost everyone about this famous little cafe so our expectations were pretty high. We weren't disappointed, that is all I can say! I ordered a lemon coconut cake, donut and flat white while Kirsten ordered a lemon tart, donut and soda. We were handed a cute red turtle instead of a table number and found a nice seat right by the heater.

After sampling each others food we agreed Little and Friday definately know what they are doing. Their food is great, the shop is adorable and we were both left pining for the recipe book (it's on my birthday wish list!) The cafe itself is cute and rustic. I loved the mis-matched chairs and the touch of mint green everywhere. There's a big shared table in the middle of the cafe which makes it feel homey and I also spotted a piano in there too! All in all I had a fabulous time meeting Kirsten, we're planning another cafe date soon, any suggestions where we should go?

  2. Little & Friday is sublime. Everything is amazing... no fails there! And the book is absolutely fantastic! You'll love it! I would recommend Florentine for a cute wee outing next time. Gorgeous little tea spot in Ranfurly Road, Epsom. Food isn't as amazing a L&F but it's a cute place.

    1. Hi Vanessa, thank you for the suggestion, will have to check it out! Oh I so feel like some L & F food right now! Maybe they'll make another one closer to where I live? Wouldn't that be dangerous!

    1. Hi Kara!

They are indeed! Usually when I go places with my husband we go halves in stuff so that wouldn't have been so bad but I actually wanted to eat it all anyway! YUM! Now I want some L&F food!

  5. I keep meaning to check them out since I walk past every morning on the way to the bus stop! Maybe I shouldn't though, after your comments... ha! Did you go to the Taka one? The Newmarket one looks pretty small.

    1. You should go! It's the best cafe food everrrr! Yes I went to the Taka one. Surely the food will taste the same though? (hope so, I'm hoping to get the recipe book for my b-day!)

  6. Hi and good to meet up with you in person at the conference. I love all your photos - so clear and bright. I personally prefer the Takapuna one (I think the Newmarket has less product but that may be 'cos I've arrived too late!). You appeared to have hit the cafe at a less crowded time. When I was in the Takapuna one all the tables were full and the queue was to the door. Fortunately I have a relative who lives across the road (she'd better not move!).

    1. Hi Lesley,

      Thank you!

I have never been to the Newmarket one but have heard the same thing actually. It's always nice to go to the flagship store anyway!

Oh my! How lucky to have a relative so close, I wonder if that's a gift or a curse for them, if I lived so close I think I would be the size of a house!

Getting the cookbook for my birthday! Three days to go!
